Canned Coffee Products Recalled Over Botulism Risk
Nearly 300 canned coffee products, including popular brands such as Intelligentsia, are being voluntarily recalled due to the risk of botulism contamination.
The FDA has issued a recall notice for all products manufactured by Snapchill of Green Bay, WI. The products were sold in a variety of metal can sizes ranging from 7 ounces to 12 ounces.
The recall was initiated after the company discovered that the products were not properly sealed, which could allow bacteria to enter the cans and produce botulinum toxin, a potentially deadly neurotoxin.
Consumers are urged to check their coffee supply and discard any recalled products. Symptoms of botulism can include nausea, vomiting, fatigue, double vision, and difficulty breathing.
Anyone who has consumed a recalled product and is experiencing symptoms should seek medical attention immediately.
