Sean ‘Suga’ O’Malley: Meet the UFC champion who is ‘just so sweet to watch’
Unbeaten UFC bantamweight O’Malley became one of the biggest draws in the sport last year, amassing over 3.2 million Instagram followers and a 1.4 million-strong YouTube following.
And the Arizona native says he is only getting started as he prepares to face Pedro Munhoz this Saturday in Las Vegas.
His rise to fame has been helped by his incredible striking ability –– he has won 15 of his 15 fights by knockout –– and his relaxed fighting style, which belies the fact he has just one defeat to his name.
But O'Malley is more than just a highlight-reel KO artist.
He is also a well-rounded fighter with a solid wrestling background, and he is constantly evolving his game.
That was evident in his last fight against Raulian Paiva, in which O'Malley showed off his improved grappling skills by submitting his opponent in the first round.
“I’m just so sweet to watch,” O’Malley said. “I’m like a young Mike Tyson. I’m just a natural-born killer.”
O'Malley's confidence is infectious, and it is easy to see why he has become such a popular figure in the UFC.
He is a charismatic and engaging personality, and he is always willing to give fans a show.
But behind the bravado, there is a hard-working and dedicated athlete who is determined to reach the top of the UFC.
“I’m not here to play games,” O’Malley said. “I’m here to win a title, and I’m going to do whatever it takes to get there.”
O’Malley is still only 27 years old, and he has already accomplished a lot in his career.
He is one of the most exciting fighters in the UFC, and he has the potential to become one of the greats.
If he can continue to develop his skills and stay healthy, there is no telling how far he can go.
“I’m just getting started,” O’Malley said. “The best is yet to come.”
