At the Republican National Convention on Tuesday, Madeline Brame, whose son Hason Correa was fatally stabbed in Harlem in 2018, denounced Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg's handling of her son's case.
Brame, now the chairwoman of the Victims Rights Reform Council, criticized Bragg for cutting a plea deal with Correa's killers that she believes was too lenient. She also accused Bragg of ignoring victims' voices and prioritizing criminal justice reform over public safety.
Bragg has defended his office's handling of the case, saying that he is committed to seeking justice for crime victims while also pursuing reforms that he believes will make the criminal justice system fairer.
