Charlotte and Houston Round Out Top Three
The San Antonio Spurs have won the NBA Draft Lottery, securing the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft. The Spurs had a 14% chance of winning the lottery and will now have the opportunity to select French phenom Victor Wembanyama.
Wembanyama, a 7-foot-3 center, is considered one of the top prospects in NBA history. He averaged 22.2 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 3.1 blocks per game for Metropolitans 92 in the French League this season.
The Charlotte Hornets and Houston Rockets will select second and third overall, respectively. The Hornets had a 20% chance of winning the lottery, while the Rockets had a 14% chance.
The Spurs have won the lottery three times in franchise history, with their previous wins coming in 1997 (Tim Duncan) and 2007 (Greg Oden).
The 2023 NBA Draft will be held on June 22.
